The Hungarian Post Office issues hundreds of ornate stamps annually with a theme like anniversary of famous Hungarians or major events. The easiest way to buy them is at any Post Office, larger ones have their gift shops with a big selection. Ask for BÉLYEG and more specifically: SZÉP BÉLYEG.
There is even a postage stamp day celebrated every year. This year the main celebration took place in the charming city of Tata, 70 kms West of Budapest (see photo with the Tata castle).
If you are a postage stamp collector, don’t miss the Stamp Museum at 1074 Budapest, Hársfa u. 47. just off Erzsébet körút. You can enjoy the exhibition displaying the history of Hungarian postage stamps dating back to 1871.
